Vormsi local history society was formed on december 16, 1999 and was registered by the district court in Tallinn on january 7, 2000.

The main purpose of the association is to create and preserve contacts between new and former Vormsi inhabitants, as well as establish and develop a local history museum to preserve the history and culture of the Vormsi Swedish people.

Vormsi Kodukandi Ühing(VKÜ) is registered owner of Sviby local history museum and in 2016, Norrjas farmhouse was also added as a gift to VKÜ from Sviby village association.

The Pears farm is today a museum and Norrjas farm is planned to serve as a venue fore various activities within VKÜ’s .
